The NFL released its schedule for the 2004 season, and I was absolutely shocked.
For the second year in a row, the Arizona Cardinals were not scheduled for a single primetime game. The NFL must have made a mistake.
Aren't we talking about the same franchise that had a gloriously successful playoff run in the 1998-99 season? The same team responsible for the emergence of such NFL stars as Simeon Rice, Jake Plummer and Garrison Hearst?
Listen, any team that has the pass rushing combination of Calvin Pace and Dennis Johnson should be playing on Monday nights. I don't know what was going through the NFL executives' heads when they made this glaring omission.
What's that? Combined 25-55 record over the last five years? All I hear is a bone-crushing Dexter Jackson hit in the secondary.
