Briefs: Track headed to NCAAs

On Wednesday through Saturday, 18 Sun Devils will compete for glory at the 2004 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Austin, Texas. Ten women and eight men will represent ASU at the event, which is hosted by the University of Texas.

The Sun Devils have six competitors ready to go who gained All-American honors at the Indoor Championships on March 14-15, including Lewis Banda (4x400m), Jason Barton (4x400m and 400m), Domenik Peterson (4x400m and 200m), Seth Amoo (4x400m), Amy Hastings (5,000m) and Jackie Johnson (pentathlon).

Smart swatters: ASU men's tennis players Jonathan Kinsella and Ryan McBride were named to the Pac-10 All-Academic team last week. Kinsella carries a 3.09 GPA in business and recorded a 14-11 record in singles competition. McBride carries a 3.21 GPA in secondary education and also notched 14 singles wins.

Women's tennis players Lauren Colalillo and Cindy Sureephong were also named to the conference All-Academic team. Colalillo boasted a singles record of 16-13 and carries a 3.17 GPA in communications. Sureephong had 12 wins as well as a 3.13 GPA in digital art.
