ASU East: Graduate students talk over lunch

The Graduate Student Association and Student Activities of ASU East hosted a Graduate Student Lunch as a part of the Welcome Week Activities on Aug. 31.

New and returning graduate students were invited to meet fellow graduate students and staff. New East Provost Gerald Jakubowski and Maria Allison, Associate Dean of the Division of Graduate studies and other associations, welcomed the students.

"Trying to discover the unknown is very important," said Jakubowski. He also said graduate programs would play a very important role in the overall development of campus.

Sharon Madson, graduate student and event coordinator, said, "The real concern I have for graduate students is that they need to have their voice heard in the future. New members of GPSA are much more receptive than the previous and we are looking forward working with them in the future."

Representatives from GPSA were there to inform graduate students about the general resources and opportunities available for all ASU graduate students.

"I enjoyed it, seems like resources are out there but it is hard to get information to students, so events like these are very helpful," said Joy Muir, a master candidate of technology management.
