An ASU employee who was arrested in Austin last month resigned from his position within the Living Hope Community Church.
Dale Witenhafer officially stepped down from his position last week within the church, which sponsors the ASU student worship group The Rock, said church elder Mike Keator.
"It has been a tragic turn of events," Keator said. "He has been extremely remorseful and mortified since the incident."
Witenhafer, the assistant director of the Sun Card Program, was arrested on Sept. 26 for allegedly secretly video taping nude sunbathers at a park outside Austin, Texas.
ASU placed Witenhafer on administrative leave on Sept. 28, pending the results of an internal investigation.
As assistant director of the Sun Card Program, Witenhafer managed the program's implementation on all three ASU campuses in addition to managing the campus' snack and soda vending machines.
Because of his achievements at ASU in creating the Sun Card Program, Witenhafer was appointed to the National Association of Campus Card Users board of directors earlier this year.
Lowell Adkins, associate director of the association, said the organization was not ready to comment publicly about Witenhafer's status on the board of directors.
"The board of directors has met and discussed various issues but has not decided to make any of its decisions public at this point," Adkins said.
ASU spokeswoman Nancy Neff said Witenhafer has been suspended with full pay while the Auxiliary Business Service Office investigates the charges.
Neff said while Witenhafer is away from the Sun Card office, things would run smoothly.
"There have been no plans to hire any replacements; in the mean time, they are making do with what they have," Neff added.
