As always, BCS controversy continues to dominate college football discussion. But it's not an undefeated Auburn team getting left out of the national championship game that concerns me the most; it's the probable bowl matchup in our own backyard.
Utah deserves to play in the Fiesta Bowl. The Utes have dominated everyone they have faced this season, including a very good Texas A&M team. They have earned the opportunity to show the rest of the world they can compete with anyone.
However, playing a terrible Big East Conference champion is not the way to prove you are for real, and that is most likely who the BCS busters will face come New Year's Day. Utah's probable opponent is Pittsburgh, a team that barely beat Division I-AA Furman, 41-38 Sept. 25.
Utah deserves better. The fans deserve better. With this probable matchup, the Fiesta Bowl might consider changing its name to the "Siesta Bowl."
