Police Beat: Pre-packaged coke; not the soda

Tempe police reported the following incidents Thursday:

A 21-year-old ASU student was arrested Thursday on a charge of assaulting a police officer outside the Devil House Bar located at 8295 S. Rural Road. Police escorted the man out of the bar after he reportedly caused a disturbance by yelling and cursing. The suspect then allegedly struck an officer several times in the face with a closed fist outside the bar after he had been given multiple warnings to leave the area.

A 22-year-old Tempe man was arrested near the 200 block of West Hermosa Drive Thursday morning and charged with assault. Police said the man punched and kicked an unidentified woman in the face several times during an argument. The suspect was also charged with criminal damage after he allegedly broke one of the victim's chairs and windows and then allegedly scratched a swear word on the trunk of the woman's 1996 Nissan Sentra.

Two 20-year-old transient men were arrested on charges of possession of narcotic drugs and the intent to sell Wednesday near the intersection of Dobson and Maw roads. One suspect allegedly sold heroin to an undercover police officer. Both men were searched at the scene and officers reportedly found pre-packaged amounts of heroine and cocaine in the suspects' possession.
