Devil Dish: Eagles bound for Super disappointment

Congrat-ulations are in order to the Philadelphia Eagles, who battled adversity and the loss of top-flight receiver Terrell Owens to reach the Super Bowl after three consecutive near misses in the NFC Championship Game.

I'd also like to congratulate the Eagles on their runner-up finish in the Big Game, because there is no way they are beating the football juggernaut that is the New England Patriots.

Whether Philadelphia gets T.O. back for the Super Bowl is irrelevant, as a team that holds the Indianapolis Colts to three points and 238 yards passing certainly isn't scared of a mediocre passing offense.

The Eagles have a solid arsenal and are clearly the class of the toothless NFC, but they don't have nearly enough talent or experience to hang with New England.

Sure, they might be able to keep it close, and Philadelphia might even have the lead at halftime. But when the final horn sounds, New England will be affirming its dynasty status by hoisting the trophy for the third time in four years, and Philly fans will be left to wonder "What if?" for another season.
