Just as everyone has finally recovered from last November's elections, ASU East is preparing for an election of its own.
On April 26-27, east campus students will have an opportunity to vote for their student government officials.
Current Student General Assembly President Jon Russell said it's a great opportunity to make the most of the college experience.
"Getting involved on campus makes the university experience worth so much more," Russell said. "You start to take ownership in your education and the school in general."
According to the SGA Web site, the purpose of the student government is "to enhance the educational, social and cultural experience of the General Assembly of Students." Elected officials work as representatives of the student body, communicating with the faculty and administration regarding a number of issues.
"You find out you really can make a difference and you really can be heard," Russell said.
Interested candidates may apply for any of the following seats: president, vice president, secretary, treasurer or senator.
Candidate applications may be found online at www.east.asu.edu/sga/election.
The deadline for candidate applications is April 6 at 5 p.m.
