Police Beat: Kilt-lifting Scotsman


ASU police reported the following incidents Monday:

Police were contacted by a nurse at Tempe St. Luke's hospital regarding a possible assault early Friday morning. The victim, a 21-year-old male, reportedly "had black marker on his body and face" and "was taken to the hospital ... by his fraternity brothers who were concerned that he may have overdosed on [Vicodin]." Police reported the victim said "he isn't a pledge for his fraternity and this is common practice around Alpha Epsilon Pi." The man reportedly "refused to aid in prosecution and continued to insist that the entire incident was a practical joke."

A 20-year-old male ASU student and an 18-year-old male ASU student were arrested early Sunday morning at the Cholla Apartments and charged with disorderly conduct and having alcohol in their systems. The two men were reportedly "kicking the boxes and making a mess of the trash area" set up for students moving into the dorm. Both men also reportedly admitted to drinking after an officer "noticed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage" coming from" both suspects.

Tempe police reported the following incidents Monday:

A 31-year-old transient man was arrested on Sixth Street just east of Mill Avenue early Sunday morning and charged with two counts of public sexual indecency and one count of urinating in public. The man, who was born in Scotland, was reportedly seen urinating on a building on Mill Avenue and then allegedly turned to face two females. Police reported the man "pulled up his Scottish kilt and exposed his genitals and penis."
