Tempe bus drivers won't be going on strike, and all Tempe bus routes, including the FLASH routes will continue running on their normal schedules.
"The resolution was very amicable," said Valerie Michael, public information officer for ATC. "Both sides came to an agreement fairly easily."
The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1433, a labor organization representing many of Tempe's bus drivers, voted to strike last month. The resolution of the strike came in a special meeting between ATC Tempe and the Union Sunday, August 7.
Michael would not comment on the outcome of the negotiations. "The union has asked us not to, and we're honoring that," she said.
ATC was "absolutely thrilled" with the resolution, Michael added. "It's a win-win situation for everyone, the riders, the union and ATC."
Michael said ATC wanted to thank Tempe bus riders, "For their patience while we went through negotiations."
Amanda Nelson, spokeswoman for Tempe's transportation department, said this was the closest the city had ever come to having a strike.
