With another fall classic in the books (and congratulations to the White Sox, I might add), it's time to ask the question, what's next for the diehard sports fan?
NFL football is in mid-season, and although still very entertaining, the most important games are still to come.
College football never fails to provide big matchups to watch each weekend, but I get sick of watching USC win every week.
NBA basketball kicks off next week, and I'll still watch, but as a die-hard Suns fan, I can't say I'm looking forward to an Amare-less team.
But what is going to quench my thirst for sports until spring training?
The answer is hockey.
Call me crazy, but hockey has always had a special place in this sports fan's heart.
I've always been a fan of the speed, power and raw athleticism of the athletes. Not to mention the fights.
Add to it the season-long drought spent without hockey action of any kind, and the return of hockey comes at a perfect time.
So until spring training comes around, and unless there's football to be watched, you can bet I'll be planted on the couch, watching my beloved Coyotes and waiting for the next bone-crunching check or 100-mph slap shot to ripple the twine.
