Police Beat: Stealing pizza, purses, and pop


Tempe police reported the following incidents Thursday:

A 33-year-old Tempe woman was arrested Wednesday night and charged with theft. The woman ordered a pizza from Pizza Hut, and when the pizza was delivered reportedly "took the pizza and closed her door on the delivery man while not paying for the food," police said.

A 61-year-old transient man was arrested Wednesday night near the corner of Hardy Drive and Baseline Road. The man allegedly grabbed a woman's purse as she entered the Walgreens located at 925 W. Baseline Road in Tempe.

A 39-year-old transient man was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools. Police said the man allegedly broke into a Coke machine and then forced entry into a locked laundry room. The man saw the police and reportedly fled, starting a four-block foot pursuit.

ASU police reported the following incidents Thursday:

A female ASU student reportedly committed criminal damage Wednesday when she damaged another ASU student's computer.

Police reports said the student walked into class and tripped on another student's laptop cord that was plugged into the wall.

The student allegedly knocked down the victim's laptop and threw the charger, causing a gash on the screen.

At the end of class, the victim followed the student outside and said, "I think you are responsible for the damage, and I want you to pay for it."

A witness said he heard the student say, "I don't give a (expletive)" and "I didn't do that (expletive)."

Police reports said the student got mad and pushed the victim down, threatened to beat her up and ran off.

The victim did not want to aid in the prosecution. The case is still pending.
