The ASU volleyball team dug itself into a hole this past weekend dropping matches to No. 2 Washington and Washington State on the road.

ASU lost in straight sets to Washington Friday night in Seattle 30-17, 30-18 and 30-14. The Huskies (11-0, 2-0) have yet to lose a game this season.

"I think they're one of the best teams in the history of college volleyball," coach Brad Saindon said. "We played well and did some good things against them, but they went unnoticed because (Washington) is so dominant."

Sophomore middle blocker Colette Meek led the Sun Devils with eight kills on a .333 attack percentage, while Washington setter Courtney Thompson led all players with 49 assists.

ASU got off to a good start Saturday night at Washington State, winning the opening frame 30-28.

But the Sun Devils dropped the next two games 30-28 and 32-30, and never recovered. The Cougars closed out the match taking game four easily 30-16.

The Sun Devils hurt themselves throughout the match with 29 attack errors and 15 service errors.

"We're very disappointed," Saindon said. "By the fourth game we were just so emotionally drained and never played very well.

"Washington State is a hard place to play, but it shouldn't be an excuse."

Meek led the way for ASU again with 13 kills. Donahue paced the defense with 33 digs. She has now tallied double-digits in digs in 15 straight matches.

The Sun Devils have lost three consecutive matches, all against conference opponents.

ASU returns home to play No. 13 UA on Friday at Wells Fargo Arena at 7 p.m.
