Headlines: Not Hassayampa yet

McAllister Academic Village will keep its name for a few more weeks.

On-campus residents and representatives from the Residence Hall Association voted on new names for the complex at McAllister Drive and Apache Boulevard last week.

But the official naming committee must approve the names before they are finalized, RHA Director Hanna Ricketson said.

The names should be finalized by the end of the month, she added.

The winning name for the whole complex was Hassayampa.

The names that won for the buildings within the complex were Fairy Duster, Devil's Claw, Chuparosa, Fluffgrass, Goldeneye, Jojoba Bush and Wooly Daisy.

Ricketson said a meeting was held Monday between RHA and Sally Ramage, the vice president for student affairs, who will pass the names to the naming committee.
