ASU freshman designated hitter Ike Davis has been named the Pac-10 Conference Baseball Player of the Week for Feb. 28 - March 6, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced Tuesday.
Davis, from Scottsdale, Ariz., hit the first two home runs of his career last week, both grand slams. He knocked in 13 runs over the four games, batting .588 (10-for-17) with four extra-base hits to help the Devils score 47 runs over the week. On Friday, Davis knocked in a career-high seven runs, and leads the team with 29 RBIs this season.
On the mound, Davis threw 4 1/3 innings against Texas Tech, allowing six hits and two earned runs to pick up the victory. On Sunday, he lasted four innings, allowing one earned run and four hits. He leads the ASU pitching staff with 29 strikeouts this season.
