ASU soccer's Christine Nieva has been competing with the Under-20 Mexican national team this summer as they prepare for the FIFA Women's Under-20 World Championships in Moscow.

Nieva played in the second of two friendly games against the Under-20 Canadian national team last weekend.

The teams tied the first game at 2-2 and Mexico won the second game 3-1.

Nieva, who will be a sophomore this season, appeared in seven games as a freshman and started one.

She plays both as a middle fielder and a forward.

Nieva is from Mesquite, Texas, and has duel citizenship in the United States and Mexico.
