The ASU women's water polo team dropped another game to a ranked opponent Sunday when it lost to No. 4 Hawaii 12-8 in Honolulu.

Despite four goals from sophomore all-around player Addison Doud, the No. 10 Sun Devils (1-4) could not overcome the hump and notch their first conference and road win.

The Sun Devils responded every time Hawaii made consecutive goals and were able to keep the score close throughout the first half.

Hawaii led at the end of the first quarter, 3-2.

But the lead didn't last long as freshman center Amanda Stepp scored a goal early in the second quarter to tie the game.

The Rainbow Wahine then scored two more goals, but ASU came back with two of its own when Katie Hedley and Doud both found the back of the net for the second time in the game.

However, Hawaii scored once more before the end of the half to take a 6-5 lead at the break.

It was a lead that the Rainbow Wahine wouldn't squander.

Hawaii started the second half strong, scoring two quick goals to push its lead to 8-5.

Doud then scored her third of the game to cut the lead to two goals.

The game's superstars then traded goals, with Hawaii's Kelly Mason scoring her fifth of the contest and then Doud scoring her fourth to again keep the Devils within range.

However, Hawaii scored another goal at the end of the third quarter to lead 10-7 and seemingly put the game out of reach.

The Rainbow Wahine pulled away in the fourth quarter when they scored two goals.

Ali Gronow added a goal for the Sun Devils, but it was not enough as the team fell to Hawaii by a final score of 12-8.

The Sun Devils will travel to California this weekend to participate in the Anteater Invitational at UC-Irvine.

The team will have a rematch with No. 6 San Jose State on Saturday and will then face either No. 3 Stanford or No. 16 Michigan.
