Hot Spot: Mac's Broiler and Tap

Mac's Broiler and Tap

6430 S. McClintock Drive, Tempe, (480) 755-3050

Tempe is lacking in "Cheers"-like neighborhood pubs that skip the glitz and focus on good drinks and exceptional food. Mac's on Guadalupe Road and McClintock Drive is the exception. A little hole-in-the-wall, Mac's can be missed among bigger storefronts like Wildflower Bread Company or Changing Hands Bookstore. But Mac's makes up for its small size with friendly service and an impressive selection of sandwiches and draft beers.

Though local teams' logos adorn the walls, Mac's food is better and more varied than traditional sports bar fare, making Mac's more than a place to simply come and watch the game.

A strong happy hour vibe - half-off drinks always attract a crowd - has quickly made Mac's a neighborhood hangout. It draws the brunch crowd on weekends with breakfast favorites like pancakes and bacon. For dinner, grab a sandwich accompanied by the Cajun fries - the hidden gem on the menu. Mac's is a great place to grab an 8th Street Ale without the crowds and noise of Casey Moore's or Four Peaks.
