Police Beat

ASU Police reported the following incidents Thursday:

An 18-year-old male ASU student was arrested Wednesday morning on the 1200 block of South McAllister Avenue on charges of being underage with alcohol in his body.

Police reported seeing a group of subjects on the south side of the Residential Life Warehouse.

The subjects reportedly began running away from police.

The police then drove to the east side of the building and saw two male subjects walking toward the southwest entrance of Sonora Center, according to police reports.

One of the students reportedly had a moderate odor of an intoxicating beverage coming from his breath, watery bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.

After the subject claimed he had not been drinking, he agreed to take a Portable Breath Test, police reported.

The man clearly tried to avoid blowing into the device by pursing his lips and sucking instead of blowing, police reported.

A Hassayampa Academic Village community coordinator reported unlawful damage to the third floor landing of Wing C Wednesday morning.

There were reportedly 25 square holes punched in the wall and ceiling of the third floor landing.

Police reported six additional dents in the elevator doors of the same shape as the holes in the walls and ceiling.

A window was also broken in a lower section of one of the doors that leads out of the landing into the stairwell, police reported.

Tempe Police reported the following incidents Thursday:

A 30-year-old Tempe man was arrested Wednesday morning on the 200 block of East University Drive on charges of criminal trespassing and criminal damage.

The man reportedly kicked in the north door of the chapel at the Newman Catholic Center.

He then entered the chapel without authorization and stayed for about three minutes, police reported.

He was arrested upon exiting and booked into Tempe City Jail.

A 30-year-old Tempe woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon at Safeway, 940 E. Broadway Road, on charges of theft.

She concealed two makeup items in a bag and left the store without paying for them, police reported.

She reportedly had two outstanding warrants.
