Hot Spot: Zen Boutique and Tea Bar

Zen Boutique and Tea Bar

4211 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale

Old Town Scottsdale isn't where most people would expect to find a quiet place to study. But right in the middle of the constant noise and bar-hopping on Scottsdale Road sits a surprising and quiet escape in the form of Zen Boutique and Tea Bar.

Customers are greeted with tranquil green walls, a table of Buddha statues and tea sets, and the sound of water trickling across tiny fountains. In the back, a wall of loose tea leaves in large, square glass containers is a reminder Zen Boutique is the perfect place to have a fresh cup of tea and relax.

There's free wireless Internet and a big, black couch in the outdoor patio in back - the perfect place to lounge while sipping your tea. Zen Boutique was opened by 26-year-old former ASU student Kate Brown. She says grabbing a cup of tea is a good replacement from the habitual cup of coffee. "I always tell people, a cup of coffee a day will kill you."

Zen has various flavors of black, herbal, green and chai tea, each from $3 to $4. Anyone that joins Zen's MySpace.com friend list gets his or her first cup of tea free. Visit myspace.com/zenscottsdale for more information.
