The ASU football team left Sun Devil Stadium bloodied, battered and beaten Thursday night after their game against the USC Trojans.
The eleventh-ranked Trojans won 44-24 over the No. 7 Devils.
The Trojans' defense stymied the Devils' offense, holding them to a total of 15 yards rushing.
Devils' quarterback Rudy Carpenter was sacked five times, resulting in a loss of 38 yards. One sack by Trojans' defensive end Lawrence Jackson popped off Carpenter's helmet and bloodied his lip, forcing him to sit out two plays in the third quarter.
Trojans' quarterback John David Booty lit up the Devils' defense, throwing for 375 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also had a rushing touchdown in the waning seconds of the first half.
A win against the Trojans could have sewed up a Devils' Pac-10 conference title and possibly a trip to the Rose Bowl, but now it looks like the Trojans are on their way to a sixth straight Pac-10 title.
The Trojans' win is the eighth straight over ASU.
The Devils (9-2) look to bounce back next week against inner-state rival Arizona Wildcats (5-6) at Sun Devil Stadium on Dec. 1.
