Tempe police reported the following incidents Tuesday:

  • A 41-year-old Tempe man was arrested Monday evening on the 1300 block of East Carson Drive on charges of child abuse and forgery/possession of a foreign document, according to the police report.

    An investigation revealed he used a belt to strike his 4-year-old son on the arm leaving raised welts, police reported.

    He was transported to Tempe City Jail for booking after admitting to the child abuse, police reported.

    Once at the jail, he admitted that one of his ID's was fake, according to the police report.

  • A 25-year-old Mesa man was arrested Monday morning on the 1300 block of East Elliot Road on charges of driving with a suspended license and aggravated DUI after almost colliding with a marked police patrol vehicle, police reported.

    He reportedly did not have an Arizona license, and a records check out of Idaho showed various suspensions for DUI, according to the police report.

    He was transported to Tempe City Jail where he was booked, police reported.

  • A 21-year-old Phoenix man was arrested Saturday night at Sixth Street and Rural Road on charges of possession of marijuana and a stolen firearm after he failed to stop for police for a traffic violation, according to the police report.

    The man reportedly made a U-turn, drove directly toward an officer southbound on Mill Avenue and then fled east on Seventh Street, running through red lights and stop signs.

    There was a distinct smell and odor of marijuana coming from his vehicle after he was located a short time later, according to the police report.

    A search of the vehicle revealed a usable quantity of a green leafy substance in the driver's door panel and a stolen shotgun was recovered in the trunk of the vehicle, police reported.

    He was also found to be under the influence of alcohol and was charged with a DUI, according to the police report.

  • A 30-year-old Phoenix woman was arrested Saturday night at Seventh Street and Mill Avenue on charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police reported.

    An investigation revealed she had a container of a green leafy substance and a glass bong in her vehicle during a vehicle stop, police reported.

    An expired registration and the odor of marijuana was present, according to the police report.

    She reportedly admitted to having the marijuana and a glass pipe in her vehicle under the passenger seat.

  • A 27-year-old Tempe man was arrested Monday morning on charges of thefts of means of transportation, theft with the intent to drive and third degree trespassing on the 3100 block of South McClintock Drive, according to the police report.

    The man was initially contacted as he was intentionally removing clothing items from a Goodwill Store, police reported.

    He then entered a vehicle that was reported stolen out of Mesa and attempted to drive off, but didn't have the keys to the car, police reported.

    He was transported to Tempe City Jail where he was booked, according to the police report.
