It's not just Patriots or Giants fans who have something to cheer about when the Super Bowl comes to town. Counting Crows fans now have reason to be excited as well.
Tempe Beach Park will host the California-based band in a free concert on Feb. 2.
For the first time ever, the National Football League will present an event on the eve of the Super Bowl, said Mary Pat Augenthaler, vice president of NFL events.
"We wanted to do a free nighttime event for folks that live in Arizona and for folks coming in from out of town," Augenthaler said.
The group Boys Like Girls will open the showat 6 p.m.
At 9:40 p.m., a fireworks display will take over the sky.
The event will also include performances by other bands and appearances from NFL players.
"We always knew we wanted people to gather together to celebrate the Super Bowl," Augenthaler said. "We're very excited to be in Tempe."
