Forgive me for my past.
In a recent Devil Dish, I ranted on about how the Houston Rockets, which then held a 13-game winning streak, would not make the NBA playoffs without Yao Ming in the lineup.
Sketch my list to the name of wrongful doubters because boy, was I wrong. Not only did Houston prove me wrong by staying in playoff contention, but it made me look even sorrier by sky-rocketing (no pun-intended) to the top of the conference standings.
But alas, the streak has ended at 22 games. Even the Rockets were no match for the Boston Celtics and their league-best 54 wins.
Being only the third team in NBA history to do so, the Rockets' streak of more than 20 wins will now be talked about for generations to come.
Rockets forward Shane Battier put it best when he said, "I'm willing to concede that we're the worst team in NBA history to have a 20-game winning streak."
I'll have to agree with him on that one.
