Three members of Congress are now saying what college football fans across the nation have been saying for years: We want a playoff system.

Representatives from Hawaii, Georgia and Idaho are urging the federal government to investigate the potentially illegal process that is the Bowl Championship Series.

Oddly enough, these civil servants hail from the lands of the universities of Hawaii and Georgia, which each had arguments to get into the 2008 National Championship game, as well as Boise State, a perennial top mid-major team we remember from the 2007 Fiesta Bowl.

But doesn't the BCS system work, ironically, because it gets fans to argue from the plastic stadium seats under their bums with concessions in hand?

Power will always be unequally distributed in sports. It's what gives them perhaps the greatest storyline of all: the unexpected, the underdog, the Cinderella.

Without it, why would I bother pay attention to every game on the schedule?
