Police Beat


ASU police reported the following incidents Monday:

  • A 31-year-old female ASU student was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of theft of a means of transportation, police reported.

    The woman is suspected of stealing a golf cart belonging to Canon Business Solutions, according to the police report.

    The vehicle was parked on the south side of Noble Library on Tyler Mall on the Tempe campus, police reported.

    The woman was apprehended at the northeast corner of Lot 59, according to the police report.

    The estimated loss is $2,000, police reported.

  • A 19-year-old female ASU student was arrested Saturday on suspicion of being underage with alcohol in her body, police reported.

    The student was seen walking in the courtyard of Vista del Sol on the Tempe campus by an officer and appeared to be underage, according to the police report.

    She was holding a can of Bud Light, and when asked how much she had had to drink she admitted to consuming “a couple of beers,” police reported.

    A breath test showed the student had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.201 percent, and she failed several sobriety tests performed by the officer, according to the police report.

  • A 20-year-old male ASU student was arrested Saturday on suspicion of being underage with alcohol in his body, police reported.

    The student was approached by an officer at Rio Salado Parkway and Packard Drive on the Tempe campus, according to the police report.

    The officer stopped the student as a possible suspect in an aggravated assault and suspected he had been consuming alcohol.

    The suspect admitted to drinking several beers and a breath test showed he had a blood-alcohol content of 0.120 percent, police reported.

  • An 18-year-old male ASU student was arrested on Aug. 30 on suspicion of being underage with alcohol in his body, police reported.

    The student was apprehended at the south side of the Student Recreation Complex on the Tempe campus, according to the police report.

    After assessing the student and concluding that he was under the influence of alcohol, the officer arrested the man, police reported.

    Several hours later the student was arrested on suspicion of knowingly possessing a fictitious driver’s license at his residence in Hassayampa Academic Village, according to the police report.

    The student was cited and released from the ASU police station on both charges, police report.

Tempe police reported the following incidents Monday:

  • A 42-year-old Tempe man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia and narcotics, police reported.

    The man was discovered to be in possession of a usable quantity of cocaine and a used crack pipe after a traffic stop at Broadway Road and Roosevelt Street, according to the police report.

    The man was booked into the Tempe City Jail and was released pending charges, police reported.

  • An 18-year-old man was arrested Monday on suspicion of possession of dangerous drugs, police reported.

    The man was apprehended on the 6400 block of South Rural Road after attempting to purchase methamphetamine from a Hispanic male subject, according to the police report.

    A search showed the suspect was in possession of $500. He was booked at the Tempe City Jail, police reported.
