ASU police reported the following incidents Tuesday:

  • Between 8:15 and 8:20 p.m. on March 13, an unknown person or persons stole the purse of a 25-year-old Tempe woman, police reported.

    The purse was taken from underneath the woman’s dinner table at the Chili’s restaurant at 801 S. Mill Ave., according to the police report.

    The total estimated loss is $200, police reported.

    There are no leads, suspects or witnesses at this time, according to the police report.

  • An ASU Residential Life community director reported that a rifle was found in a student’s dorm room on March 4, according to a police report.

    Staff discovered the rifle during a room inspection in Cholla Apartments on the Tempe campus, the report stated.

    A 19-year-old male student admitted to owning the rifle and apologized for having it in his dorm room, police reported.

    The student volunteered to turn the rifle in to the ASU police department to hold for safekeeping until the end of the semester, and the item was impounded, according to the police report.

  • Between 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 25 and 8:35 p.m. on March 5, an unknown person or persons stole the car of a 23-year-old male ASU student, police reported.

    The student’s vehicle was parked in the University Towers parking lot when it was stolen, according to a police report.

    The total estimated loss is $4,105, police reported.

    There are no leads, suspects or witnesses at this time, according to the police report.

Tempe police reported the following incidents Tuesday:

  • A 19-year-old Tempe man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of marijuana, police reported.

    The man was arrested on the 700 block of West Baseline Road in Tempe.

    The man was driving with a suspended license when he was stopped and arrested at about 2 a.m., police reported.

    When police searched his car, the marijuana was found under his seat. Police reported that the man then admitted it was his.

    He was released pending charges.

  • A 32-year-old Tempe man was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana on Tuesday at about 4 p.m., police reported.

    The man intended to sell the marijuana before being stopped by police on an expired out-of-state registration at South Hardy and West Minton drives in Tempe, police reported.

    When police stopped the man, the car gave off a strong smell of marijuana, according to the report. The man attempted to flee the scene on foot after officers asked to search the vehicle, police reported.

    After a short chase on foot, the man was stopped and arrested, police reported.

    When police conducted a search of the car, they found several bags of marijuana, police reported.

    The man was transported to Tempe City Jail.

  • A 43-year-old Tempe woman was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia on the 600 block of East Bunker Hill Drive at 10:44 p.m., police reported.

    When police stopped her, the woman provided the officers with a mason jar containing a small bag of what she identified as marijuana, police reported.

    She was then arrested and transported to Tempe City Jail. She was held to see a judge, police reported.
