Water polo falls to No. 3 UCLA

The ASU water polo team, in its first home match of the season, was defeated 10-5 by No. 3 UCLA on Saturday.

The No. 6 Sun Devils have lost six of their last nine games after winning their first six.

Sophomore Nikki Unbehaun scored two of the ASU goals and juniors Jennifer Campo, Bonnie Miles and Sam Schubert each scored one.

Freshman goaltender Dana Harvey had eight saves in three quarters of play, and junior Taylor Greenberg played the fourth quarter of her ASU debut.

The Sun Devils host No. 1 Stanford next Saturday at The Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. ASU lost to Stanford by a single goal in the fourth tournament of the season.

Stanford has since gone 9-0 and only lost one game this season — to No. 2 USC.

To remain competitive, the Sun Devils will need to shut down Stanford’s trio of offensive superstars. Kelly Eaton, Alex Koran and Melissa Seidemann each scored three goals in Stanford’s game against No. 8 San Jose State.
