Wrestling heads to Oklahoma

The ASU wrestling team faces its first big test of the season when it travels to Oklahoma to face off against No. 4 Oklahoma State on Friday and No. 12 Oklahoma on Sunday.

ASU head coach Shawn Charles said the weekend’s matches against two highly- ranked teams will be a great opportunity to see what else the No. 20 Sun Devils (2-0) need to work on to return to the top.

“It’s a great experience and chance to gauge yourself,” Charles said.

The trip also marks the return to OSU for ASU junior Ben Ashmore (133 pounds), who wrestled for the Cowboys as a freshman.

The Sun Devils are 4-36 all-time against OSU but haven’t faced off against the Cowboys since 2000, when they lost 39-0 in that duel match.

ASU has not beaten OU since 2003 and hasn’t recorded a victory in Norman since 1991.
