ASU Police reported the following incidents Monday:

  • An unknown person or persons stole the backpack of a 19-year-old male ASU student on Thursday while he was sleeping on the second floor of Hayden Library on the Tempe campus, police reported.

    The man said he was sleeping in a chair between 3 and 3:20 p.m. with the backpack under his legs, according to a police report.

    The backpack contained a laptop computer and a wallet with identification cards, according to the report.

    The total estimated loss is $2,215, police reported.

  • An unknown person or persons unlawfully entered the dorm room of an 18-year-old male ASU student and stole his property on Nov. 25, police reported.

    The man said his Xbox 360, his video-game controller and his Call of Duty video game were stolen from his room in Cereus Hall on the Tempe campus, according to a police report.

    The total estimated loss is $400, police reported.

  • An unknown person or persons stole the backpack of an 18-year-old female ASU student on Nov. 19 from the study room at the Taylor Place residence hall on the Downtown campus, police reported.

    The backpack contained a social security number and other miscellaneous items, according to a police report.

    The total estimated loss is $200, police reported.

Tempe Police reported the following incident Monday:

  • A 28-year-old man was arrested early Monday morning on the 2000 block of South McClintock Drive on suspicion of recklessly displaying a firearm, police reported.

    The man reportedly began waving a pistol around while pointing it at the ground after a verbal fight began at his apartment complex, according to a police report.

    The man got into the verbal fight, which began around 11 p.m. Sunday, with three people, including his girlfriend, over the use of a common grill inside of his apartment complex, police reported.

    The three people testified that they saw the man displaying a gun, according to the report.

    The man was charged with reckless display of a firearm and booked into Tempe City Jail, police reported.
