Ever since the clock wound down to the end of a dreadful 45-14 loss against the Saints, retirement questions have surrounded Kurt Warner.

Warner is holding a press conference to announce his future plans Friday afternoon.

I, like many Cardinals fans, hope he stays. Just one more year, Kurt.

However, many signs point to this being the end of what has been an incredible career.

I can’t blame him for wanting to retire healthy — Warner has taken a beating throughout his career.

Fans have come to know and love the quarterback who overcame the odds to star in the NFL. He burst onto the scene with the St. Louis Rams, leading them to a Super Bowl XXXIV victory.

After a short stint with the New York Giants, he found his way to Arizona, where he hoped to rejuvenate his career.

I think that worked out pretty well.

Without Warner, it is hard to imagine the Cardinals winning back-to-back NFC West Championships and a NFC Championship in 2008.

On behalf of all Cardinals fans, thank you Kurt Warner.

And if you shock the football world and do decide to return, don’t pull a Favre and go to a division rival.
