It is time for the NCAA to reign in college football coaches like Lane Kiffin.

Kiffin just got a verbal commitment from a 13-year-old quarterback.

It is illegal in college basketball for coaches to make contact with an athlete until they are a sophomore in high school, but in college football, any age is fair game.

How far do we have to go before some regulation comes down?

The NCAA loves to micromanage everything else, so why not something that seems so strikingly obvious?

Nobody knows what this kid will become five years from now. ASU basketball player Demetrius Walker was supposed to be the next LeBron James when he was 14. Walker may become a nice basketball player, but he certainly isn’t LeBron.

What happens if the kid doesn’t grow? Or if he just isn’t that good? Kiffin, if he is even still at USC, will pull the offer, and all of a sudden the kid is left in the dark.

Now this kid has a sense of entitlement, and he likely will gain an attitude that he is superior to others at a young age.

Sounds a lot like Kiffin.

The NCAA isn’t about that, and something must change.
