Police Beat


ASU Police reported the following incidents Wednesday:

  • An 18-year-old undergraduate man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of being a minor with alcohol in body, according to a police report.
  • Around 1:16 a.m., police observed the man stumbling and swaying as he walked west on East University Drive near Palm Walk on the Tempe campus, according to a report.

    The man was arrested, cited, and released, according to police.

  • An unknown person or persons committed theft sometime between Sunday at 9 p.m. and Tuesday at 9 p.m., by stealing a bicycle that was locked to a rack on the south east side of the College of Design South building on the Tempe campus, according to a police report.
  • The bike was estimated to be worth $500 and belonged to a 19-year-old undergraduate female, according to a report.

  • An 18-year-old undergraduate man was arrested Saturday around 2 a.m. on suspicion of being underage and under the influence of alcohol, according to a police report.
  • The incident occurred at the Palo Verde West residential hall on the Tempe campus, and a police investigation revealed the odor of alcohol on the man’s breath, police reported.

    The man also had watery, blood-shot eyes and admitted to drinking two cups of beer, according to a report.

    He was issued a criminal citation and released, according to a police report.

  • An unknown person or persons committed criminal damage sometime between Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. and Friday at 1 p.m., by vandalizing an ASU owned laptop computer in Picacho Hall on the Polytechnic campus, according to a police report.
  • The person or persons scratched the surface metal portion of the laptop near the cable lock causing around $300 in damages, police reported.

    There are no known suspects, witnesses or leads, according to a report.

  • An 18-year-old undergraduate man was arrested Feb. 12 on suspicion of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a police report.
  • Police responded to a report of marijuana by contacting the man at his Barrett, the Honors College dorm room around 11:45 p.m., according to a report.

    The man was arrested and the marijuana and paraphernalia were impounded as evidence, police reported.
