Police Beat


ASU police reported the following incidents Monday.

  • An unknown person or persons committed theft on Saturday between 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., by stealing a bicycle from the bike racks on the east side of Hassayampa Academic Village on the Tempe campus, police reported.

    The bicycle belonged to an 18-year-old student and was estimated to be worth $150, according to a police report.

  • An unknown person or persons committed third degree burglary and criminal damage between 10 p.m. Friday and 4:30 a.m. Saturday by illegally entering a vehicle that was parked on the 700 block of East Apache Boulevard, police reported.

    The vehicle, which belonged to a 20-year-old ASU student, had the audio equipment removed that was estimated to be worth $385, according to a police report.

  • An unknown person or person committed theft between 12 p.m. on Thursday and 5 p.m. Friday, by stealing a bicycle from the west side of the Memorial Union on the Tempe campus, police reported.

    The bicycle belonged to a 19-year-old student and was estimated to be worth $800, according to a police report.

  • An unknown person or persons committed criminal damage between 2 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 p.m. on Thursday by bending the driver’s side windshield wiper blade of a vehicle, police reported.

    The vehicle belonged to a 22-year-old ASU student and was estimated to be worth $50, according to a police report.

  • On Wednesday at 10 p.m., ASU police officers found a glass smoking pipe, a lighter and an empty plastic bag after a security check in Manzanita Hall led an officer to smelling burnt marijuana coming from the 15th floor lounge of the Tempe campus, police reported.

    The room was searched and found to be empty, according to a police report.

    The items were impounded for destruction at the ASU Police Department, police reported.

  • An unknown person or persons committed criminal damage on Friday between 1 a.m. and 1:30 a.m., by damaging a cement garbage can on the north side of the Engineering Research Center on the Tempe campus, police reported.

    The estimated total loss in damages is $550, police reported.

  • An unknown person or persons committed theft Friday between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. by stealing a cell phone out of the University Center library on the Downtown campus, police reported.

    The cell phone belonged to a 22-year-old ASU student and is estimated to be worth $90, according to a police report.
