Police Beat


ASU Police reported the following incidents Wednesday:

  • An unknown person or persons committed aggravated criminal damage by breaking the safety glass on the entryway of the College of Design North Building on the Tempe campus, sometime between Feb. 11 at 5 p.m. and Feb. 12 at 7 a.m., according to a police report.
  • The total estimated damages are $185, police reported.

  • An unknown person or persons committed burglary by stealing a vehicle that was parked in the Sun Devil Stadium parking structure on the Tempe campus sometime between Feb. 10 at 7:15 p.m. and Feb. 12 at 3:15 p.m., according to a police report.
  • The vehicle belonged to a 19-year-old undergraduate man and was worth around $8,000, police reported.

    There are no known leads, suspects, or witnesses at this time, according to a report.

  • An unknown person or persons committed criminal damage in the Palo Verde West building on the Tempe campus sometime between Feb. 1 at 1 p.m. and Feb. 8 at 12:30 p.m., according to a police report.
  • The person or persons criminally damaged a wireless Internet box and losses are estimated around $250, according to a report.

  • An unknown person or persons committed theft by stealing a projector from the 6th floor of the Bateman Physical Sciences Center F-wing on the Tempe campus, sometime between Nov. 4, 2009 at 12 p.m. and Dec. 9, 2009 at 12 p.m., according to a police report.
  • The projector was worth an estimated $950, according to a report.

Tempe Police reported the following incidents Wednesday:

  • A 45-year-old transient man was arrested Wednesday Feb. 10 at the Safeway on South Rural Road and East Broadway Road in Tempe, on suspicion of theft, according to a police report.
  • Around 12:55 p.m., the man concealed an $18 package of pork ribs in his jacket and left the Safeway without paying for it, police reported.

    After his arrest, police discovered the man also had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants, one for public consumption and one for probation violation, according to reports.

    He was transported to the Tempe City Jail and booked on the charges, according to police.

  • A 45-year-old transient man was arrested Wednesday Feb. 10 at 1700 block of South Roosevelt Street in Tempe on suspicion of possession of marijuana and public consumption of alcohol, according to a police report.
  • The man was discovered drinking beer from a red igloo water jug around 11:30 a.m. in Clark Park and a search revealed he had marijuana in his front pants pocket, according to police.

    The man also had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for public consumption of alcohol, police reported.

    He was booked into Tempe City Jail and released pending the drug charges, according to a report.
