ASU sophomore pitcher Jake Borup has been named Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week and Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball for his outing against Cal in the No. 1 Sun Devil’s 3-2 victory on Sunday.

Borup did not earn a decision in the game but pitched 7 2/3 innings with one run and two hits allowed. The right-hander also fanned 13 batters, more than doubling his previous career high.

Borup is 5-0 this season and lowered his earned run average on Sunday to 2.14, lowest among the team’s starters this season.

Borup, who pitched just eight innings last season after returning from a two-year Mormon mission, has struck out 36 in 33 2/3 innings of work this season.
