Hope springs eternal.

It is a phrase commonly used about this time of year, as Opening Day is right around the corner.

But I am not here to talk about baseball.

I know, Major League Baseball is just about to start up, and the Diamond Devils are 23-0, but it is that time again.

Spring football is here.

Hope springs eternal. It fits the thought process of most ASU football fans.

It has been two dreadful football seasons, but hope springs eternal. Every spring, it does no matter how bad your previous season was.

Reasons to have hope are there. There is hope in Steven Threet will win the quarterback job. You can find hope in that dominant defense from last season only getting better. There might even be depth on the offensive line.

But the biggest change from a year ago is the hiring of Noel Mazzone as the new offensive coordinator. Mazzone is going to bring an offense to the table that should fit what head coach Dennis Erickson is trying to do better than his predecessor.

Now throw in Threet, and he has a quarterback that can run that style of offense.

Hope springs eternal, at least for these few weeks.
