Love It, Then Leave It: My Last Semester at ASU

This Blog is a Swan Song: My Last Semester at ASU

As I complete my final semester at ASU, I’m struck with many emotions.

Knowing my post-secondary education is finally coming to a close, I find myself veering wildly from ecstatic joy to outright panic to profound indifference.

Walking these halls and malls for the last time, I can’t help but feel the occasional tinge of regret as well.

Have I made the best of my collegiate experience? Will I look back on my years at ASU with pride and fulfillment? And, more than anything, did I get my money’s worth?

I can say with certainty that in my time at ASU I’ve met a lot of interesting people and made a few lifelong friends. I’ve engaged my passion for writing in many ways and walked out of certain classes feeling completely inspired.

However, just like any student, I’ve also had my share of skull-melting boredom and bureaucratic nightmares.

I know I’ll look back fondly on my college years, but nostalgia relies on selective perception and choice forgetfulness. I want to be certain I went out with a bang or at least a pleasant clatter.

Here are a few things I hope to accomplish in the twilight of my senior year and report back on within this handy blog space. Some are simple, others more involved, but all have been neglected until now:

  • Attend a meeting of the College Republicans and Young Democrats
  • Attend an ASU men’s baseball game
  • Do something secret in the not-so Secret Garden
  • Check out the greenhouse atop the life sciences building
  • Spend eight hours inside Pitchforks cafeteria
  • Do some actual reading on Reading Day
I’d be thrilled to hear suggestions and ideas from readers (seniors especially) about any must-do activities for my ASU bucket list.

What's the thing I can't leave ASU without finally doing? Tell me in a comment.
