Police Beat — March 8


Tempe Police reported the following incidents Sunday:

  • A 38-year-old Tempe man was arrested Monday around 10 p.m. on East Greenway Drive and South Hazelton Lane on suspicion of failure to identify himself, possession of drug paraphernalia and two outstanding felony warrants, according to a police report.
  • The man reportedly initially refused to identify himself after police stopped his vehicle. When he complied with officers, a name check revealed two warrants from Maricopa County Supreme Court, police reported.

    The man was detained and a search revealed a piece of broken glass with white residue and burn marks in his pocket, according to a police report.

  • A 26-year-old Tucson man was arrested Monday around 10 p.m. near South Rural Road and East Laguna Drive on suspicion of possession of marijuana, driving on a suspended license, giving false information to law enforcement and two non-extraditable warrants, according to a police report.
  • The man reportedly gave false information after police stopped his vehicle. He gave police consent to search his vehicle, which revealed marijuana in his center console and his identification in the glove box, police reported.

    The man was found to have more marijuana in his pocket. A name check also revealed a Department of Public Safety warrant, including contempt of court and driving on a suspended license, according to police report.

  • A 19-year-old Keego Harbor, MI man was arrested Monday around 10 p.m. at an apartment complex near West Carter Drive and South Maple Avenue on suspicion of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a police report.
  • Police found the man in possession of marijuana in a clear bag and a cigar during while patrolling the complex, police reported.
  • A 36-year-old man from an unknown area was arrested Sunday around 9:45 p.m. at the light rail platform near West Third Street and South Mill Avenue on suspicion of robbery, according to police report.
  • Police investigation revealed the man reportedly robbed and assaulted the victim near West Fifth Street and South Mill Avenue, police reported.

    The man reportedly took the victim’s wallet and $50 before fleeing, according to police report.

    Police contacted the man on light rail platform where the victim and two witnesses identified him, police reported.
