The ASU men’s basketball team received its first commitment of the spring signing period on Wednesday when Chanse Creekmur, a 6-foot-7 forward from Marshalltown, Iowa, faxed in his national letter of intent to officially become a Sun Devil.

Creekmur was Marshalltown High School’s all-time leading scorer and had scholarship offers from Minnesota and South Florida. He had also previously given verbal commitments to Iowa and Santa Clara.

Scout.com ranks Creekmur as the 40th-best small forward in the nation and a 3-star recruit.

Creekmur is the fourth player to commit to the Sun Devils for the 2010-11 season, joing guards Keala King from Santa Ana, Calif.and Corey Hawkins from Goodyear, Ariz. and center Jordan Bachynski from Calgary, Canada.
