Police Beat: April 2


ASU Police reported the following incidents Thursday:

An unknown person or persons damaged a truck belonging to the University between March 24 and Tuesday, police reported.

The driver’s side window was broken on the truck, which was parked at ASU Lot 57 in Tempe, according to a police report.

The total estimated loss is $150, police reported.

There are no leads, suspects or witnesses, according to a report.

An unknown person or persons committed theft by taking the backpack of a 21-year-old ASU student from the Vista del Sol community center on Tuesday, police reported.

The student was swimming in the Vista del Sol pool when his backpack was taken from the area, according to a police report.

The total estimated loss is $805, police reported.

Tempe Police reported the following incidents Thursday:

A 38-year-old Tempe man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of aggravated DUI, police reported.

Police stopped the man for failure to stop at a red light and driving on the wrong side of the road, according to a police report.

Officers found two children, ages 2 and 3, in the backseat of the car, police reported.

The man had a blood-alcohol level of .16 at the scene of the arrest, according to a report.

The man then passed out in a DUI van and was transported to Tempe St. Luke’s Hospital, police reported.

After being released from the hospital, the man was booked at Tempe City Jail, according to a report.

A 27-year-old Tempe man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of reckless discharge of a deadly weapon, police reported.

The man admitted to police firing approximately eight shots from a Ruger P-series pistol while driving, according to a police report.

Officers found multiple shell casings on the outside of the windshield of the man’s 2007 Honda Fit, police reported.

The man was booked at Tempe City Jail and transported to Maricopa County Jail to see a judge, police reported.

A 23-year-old Tempe man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of forgery, being in possession of drug paraphernalia and being in possession of methamphetamine, police reported.

The man was accused of attempting to use a forged $20 bill at an unspecified location, according to a police report.

Police found four forged $20 bills, drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine upon searching the man, police reported.

The man was booked and processed at Tempe City Jail, according to a report.
