Police Beat: April 5


Tempe police reported the following incidents Sunday:

  • A 20-year-old Tempe man was arrested Friday on suspicion of DUI, failing to obey an officer and being in possession of marijuana, police reported.
  • After police pulled the man over at South 48th Street and East Saint Ann Avenue, a passenger fled on foot from the vehicle, according to a police report.

    The man reportedly failed to comply with officers after he refused to turn off the engine and put his hands in the air, police reported.

    Police observed an open beer can in the car after the man was detained, and the man admitted to drinking three beers before driving, according to a report.

    The man had a blood-alcohol content of .06, police reported.

    Police also found a bag of marijuana upon searching the man, according to a report.

    The man was booked and released from Tempe City Jail pending charges, police reported.

  • A 40-year-old Tempe man was arrested Friday on suspicion of felony trespassing on the light rail tracks, police reported.
  • A security guard observed the man crossing the tracks, and told him to wait for police, according to a report.

    After his arrest, the man told police he crossed the light rail tracks because he didn’t know how else to cross, police reported.

    The man was booked and held at Tempe City Jail, according to a report.

  • A 50-year-old Tempe woman was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of possessing dangerous drugs for sale, police reported.
  • After pulling the woman over for a traffic stop, police found 27 bags of methamphetamine containing between one and two grams each, according to a police report.

    The woman was booked and processed at Tempe City Jail, police reported.

  • A 23-year-old Tucson man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of unlawful use of transportation, police reported.
  • The man was driving a 2001 Ford Expedition reported stolen by his parents in Tucson, according to a police report.

    The man admitted to police to taking the vehicle, police reported.

    The man was booked in Tempe City Jail and held to see a judge, according to a report.
