Swim and dive coach and players earn Pac-10 awards

Two members of the ASU diving team and coach Mark Bradshaw earned Pac-10 awards this week.

Bradshaw was named the Pac-10 Coach of the Year, Freshman Riley McCormick earned the Pac-10 Men’s Diver of the Year and the Freshman/Newcomer of the Year award and sophomore Elina Eggers earned the Pac-10 Women’s Diving Newcomer of the Year award.

McCormick made his presence at ASU known with an outstanding season. At the Zone E Championships, McCormick won the 10-meter with ease and placed second in the event at the NCAA Championships with a score of 469.5.

Eggers also had exceptional performances in her first season at ASU. Eggers had first-, second- and third-place finishes at the Pac-10 Diving Championships. At the NCAA Championships, she placed fourth on the 10-meter.

“There are a lot of worthy candidates that could have received the awards as well,” Bradshaw said. “I think their body of work throughout the year speaks for itself.”

Bradshaw earned his seventh Pac-10 Men’s Diving Coach of the Year award.
