West campus passes smoking zones resolution

The Associated students of ASU West passed a smoking zones resolution for the campus on Friday, voting to support the creation of designated smoking areas.

West campus was the last campus to vote on a smoking measure; all campus suggestions will be reviewed by University administration at a later date.

“Right now, we think the best solution is to get [the resolution] on to admin and encourage them to do more enforcement of the [20]-foot rule first and foremost and then also consider looking at an increase in designated smoking [spots],” said Everett Lively, senate chairman of ASASUW.

The resolution passed 10-5, Lively said, and only 10 votes were needed to pass the bill, since one senator wasn’t present.
