Blair, ASU recruit Lindsey selected in MLB draft

ASU junior pitcher Seth Blair was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals with the 46th selection (first-round compensation pick) in Monday's Major League Baseball draft.

Blair is 12-0 with 3.06 ERA in 16 starts this season. His season will continue when ASU hosts a best-of-three Super Regional, beginning either Friday or Saturday, against Arkansas.

Taylor Lindsey, an ASU signee out of Desert Mountain High School, was also drafted on Monday, taken 37th overall (also a compensation pick) by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Lindsey hit .557 with 14 home runs with 48 RBI during his senior season at Desert Mountain.

Other draft eligible players for ASU include sophomores Jordan Swagerty, Jake Borup and Drew Maggi (eligible because of their age), juniors Merrill Kelly, Jimmy Patterson, Josh Moody, Xorge Carrillo and Matt Newman and seniors Josh Spence, Raoul Torrez and Kole Calhoun.

The draft continues Tuesday at 9 a.m. Arizona time and concludes on Wednesday.
