No shortage of tasty treats at the College World Series

OMAHA, Neb. — If all the baseball action at the College World Series isn't enough to satisfy a fan's need for all things American, one only needs to walk the sidewalks alongside Rosenblatt Stadium.

The tasty fun begins at Zesto, a tiny building just steps away from the stadium that has fed hungry baseball fans for years with juicy cheeseburgers and self-proclaimed "nationally known" milkshakes.

The lines get long outside the humble establishment, but they grill the burgers fast, keeping customers coming back for more. While Zesto gets plenty of publicity — listen to an ESPN telecast and you'll hear all about the place — it is hardly the only spot that can fill stomachs in south Omaha. The stadium itself has everything from hot dogs to steak, and a heap of vendors along the sidewalks are sure to offer anything the heart (read: stomach) desires.

And for dessert, there's the ice cream. Oh, the ice cream. Everywhere you walk there seems to be a vendor selling frozen treats, some even offering the stuff for FREE! If they don't get you, there is an ice cream truck, rolling down the crowded streets like a police cruiser, trying to off a refreshing combatant to the sticky summer air. Did I mention this probably isn't the best place to come if you're on a diet?

Coming to the College World Series, you quickly realize that this a place that even the non-sports fan can relish. It is a freeze frame of a scene that is truly American. One that is full baseball, friendly people and a whole lot of food.
