Matt Leinart wants an explanation. An explanation from Arizona Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt as to why there is a quarterback controversy between himself and newcomer Derek Anderson.

Well Matt, I think Cardinals fans could use an explanation from you first, buddy. There are plenty of questions.

Why are there still doubts surrounding your maturity and leadership skills after five years in the NFL?  Why have you contributed so little to the Cardinals organization after they wasted a top 10 draft pick on you?

Do you realize that all the tools are in place for a powerful offense? You have Larry Fitzgerald and Steve Breaston to throw to, and Beanie Wells and Tim Hightower in the back field.

Matt, you also have a head coach in Whisenhunt who has brought Arizona fans back-to-back NFC West division titles. You’ve had more than enough time to learn the offense, an admirable predecessor in Kurt Warner to learn from, and talented teammates to work with.

There have been plenty of opportunities to prove yourself, Matt, and so far you have been unimpressive.

It’s now or never, Leinart. If you don’t show some fire on the field and step up your game, the Derek Anderson era begins in the desert.
