Reverse Rhetoric

(In response to Samantha Rush’s Aug. 25 letter to the editor “Gaza Talk.”)

This is in response to the letter that stated, "One thing is certain: The State of Israel wants peace. It always has, and it always will. That is a fact." Did Israel want peace when it, in violation of international law, dropped white phosphorous shells on Palestinian schools? Did it want peace when it attacked clearly marked U.N. aid convoys? Did Israel want peace when it illegally raided an aid flotilla in international waters and murdered nine people? Is the objective of the blockade on Palestine peace? Is that why it banned things like fruit juice, chocolate, light bulbs, mattresses, crayons, pencils and electric wheelchairs?

Your argument is an insult to reason.

Undergraduate Student

(In response to Oday Shahin’s Aug. 23 column “Deconstructing Gaza.”)

Very rarely is this side of the conflict revealed to the public, and I would like to express my delight and surprise that it was given a spot in The State Press. Keep up the good work!
