Apparently the WNBA finals start this Sunday.
I haven’t watched a game all season, and I don’t plan to start now.
The WNBA is a good, necessary organization to have because women should be able to play sports too, but it’s ill timed.
As with any sport, the finals bring the opportunity to reach the largest audience. More people are likely to watch the finals because the play is more intense than in regular season games.
At least, that is how it works for most sports.
Unfortunately for the WNBA, the finals occur at an inconvenient time of the year. They occur at the start of the football season.
Nobody is focused or interested in watching women’s basketball when their favorite football teams are back on the field.
People are more worried about choosing their fantasy teams than watching a WNBA game. And football is not the WNBA’s only competition. Baseball is in full swing leading up to the World Series.
So while I feel bad for the WNBA players that won’t have an audience, I won’t be watching them play the finals this weekend or the week after. Instead I’ll be getting ready for another exciting football season.
