I’d like personally to thank the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Thank you for sweeping the San Diego Padres. No, I’m not a San Francisco Giants fan. My team has been long eliminated from the National League Central race. I’m just a baseball fan who is desperately in need of a good division race.

Someone will probably read this and think I am crazy and say that the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays are in a division race. To me that is not a good race, because the loser of the American League East is going to win the Wild Card.

A good division race to me is one with teams playing for all the marbles, and until the Padres lost seven in a row, we had none.

The American League Central was as close as we were, but with their bullpen woes, even Manny can’t get the White Sox back in it.

How about that NL Central? The Cardinals have fallen flat on their face lately and the Reds are in complete control.

So, thanks to the Diamondbacks for sweeping San Diego. Now we may have an exciting division race down the stretch, not to mention how fun the NL Wild Card will be.
